The City of Galena and the Parker developer appealed the decision in the lawsuit that Wendy Clark won in early 2024. The Appeals Court has scheduled in-person oral arguments for September 24 in Springfield, IL, after which the court will decide whether to uphold the decision that voided the City’s 2022 approvals of the Parker resort.
This is a critical part of the lawsuit. It is also expensive.
Wendy won the lawsuit in January 2024, and that win was affirmed in August 2024 after a Circuit Court review. The City and the Developer chose to keep trying to overturn those decisions, which means they’ve chosen to keep forcing her to spend money on a lawsuit she has already won -- twice.
Those victories benefit all of us: the lawsuit is the only thing that has held the Parker at bay for the past 3 years, it’s the only reason why Mr. Hooten has not yet started digging up the hillside to build his rental cabins and event center and restaurants and all the rest.
Wendy needs your help. There are several thousand dollars in currently outstanding legal bills, with several thousand more coming as a result of the appeal and the requirement for Wendy’s attorney to travel to Springfield for the appeal hearing.
Your help is needed and will be welcomed with gratitude.
